Underpinning across Brisbane
Enquiries come from across Brisbane City Council's area. Seven suburbs have a page because Queensland's geological survey and Council's own overlay mapping give each something specific, and different, to say about the ground under a house.

For each suburb we queried Queensland's geological survey at five points: its centre, and one a short way north, south, east and west. That is a sample, not a survey of every lot. In those samples The Gap and Enoggera sit mostly on different rock, granite and phyllite, Murarrie carries a record of made ground, Coorparoo is mostly rock and Bridgeman Downs has a hard weathered surface. Bald Hills and Coopers Plains have a large part of their area in Council's creek and waterway flood planning area.

One council, several overlays
Every suburb here is in Brisbane City Council's area, so the same filling and excavation rules and the same City Plan apply. What differs is which overlays are drawn over which suburb. We have not checked which neighbourhood plan areas the suburbs fall in. The overlay mapping we read was last modified between May 2024 and November 2025, depending on the layer, and City Plan online is where a single lot is looked up.
Suburbs without a page
Suburbs outside the seven are covered on the same terms. Pages were written where the public record gave a suburb its own story; the rest repeat stories the seven pages already tell, and none has been ruled out.
